You've brought to light the positive aspect of reviewing for the simple enjoyment of the task. Not only can you sit back and read stories and poems from any genre under the sun but also be permitted to offer feedback and encouragement for the authors.

"One step at a time" is a great philosophy to follow in life and in reviewing. I like your idea of breaking down your review into segments which can be easily comprehended by the writer and also acts as a guide for you to follow.

As you say, it takes a lot of time and patience to gain the proper perspective needed for giving good advice while always keeping in mind that the writer is in control and has the last word. Very well put, Patrick!

And thanks for pointing out Deanna's Daily Motivators site for those of us who suffer from writers block. That's good advice.

I'd like to offer some technical advice, if I may, regarding some nit-picky grammar issues for your consideration.
You wrote:
If I can shed some light on exactly how the writer is trying to go about this, then everyone benefits.
and
If any of our writers and readers are running into that old “writer's block” thing, I recommend this type of reading for everyone.
You need a comma after those long introductory clauses.
