From the description under the title, this wonderful poem was created by taking wording from a book, and turning it into a picturesque poem. This four verse poem consists of small sentences or phrases found throughout the book. Placed together they tell a tale of an adventure and journey in finding oneself, while in a foreign land.

Let me revisit that last comment. I have read this poem a few times now. I think, after this last read that my statement is not head on. Though it is partially right, there is more to it than that. Let me explain.

In the opening of the poem, we learn of a journey to a land, and see the view through a tourist's eyes. Here we see the vendors peddling their wares. Continuing on past the marketplace, a temple looms ahead and the stairs are climbed, a journey of itself, to view the sunset. It is here that contemplation and self reflection begin. I feel that this is the spot, verse three, where the tone or voice of the poem changes.

In verse three of this poem we see that the journey is one of the self. This is one that could be done from any place, but here, in a sacred place, with this serene and awe inspiring view, one can't help but to begin looking inside.

I really enjoyed reading this poem. It made me think and provided a story as well. I appreciate that it was gathered from another source and placed together to create this compilation of steps for the journey. A well done task.
