Title:
One Lucky Dog definitely is something i must read. I can not resist a dog story.
Description:
A story about a dog who finds a new home has to have a happy and good ending, so I will dive in and enjoy what you have written.
         *Bell* FIRST IMPRESSIONS *Bell*
Lucky dog and lucky family.
         *ThumbsUp* I LIKE *ThumbsUp*
What and why:
Having a nice devoted dog in a family that loves and cares well for the dog is a a balanced and wonderful situation. This I like very much.

You covered well the present, past, thoughts, and relationships with the dog Kiku. They were presented factually and with much realism. I know dogs don't think exactly in this way, yet having these doggie thoughts presented more in human ways added more interest and detail which otherwise wouldn't have the same appeal or detailed thoroughness. I like knowing the details of stories especially when they have happy endings and the suffering is changed to health and a good life.

When you show the readers through your word art the horrible part of Kiku's life how she was abused, mistreated and neglected, you explain enough for the reader to grasp the situation without going into guts and gore, and made this story something which many readers can enjoy and learn from about animal abuse. Therefore, some animals may not experience this cruelty from people because of reading your story. This possibility I like very much and hope young readers have the opportunity to read Kiku's story.

The way you expressed the thoughts of Kiku and showed when the words were her thoughts I liked because it was easy to see and did not interrupt the flow of the story telling experience for me, or by the reader.

I did have to exercise more concentration and effort in order to read Kiku's thoughts because of the italicized words because I have very limited vision (legally blind) which is challenging for me whenever I read italicized words in any format.
plot:
This very interesting, light-hearted, and feel good story that has a happy ending for Kiku and the new family which can be a lesson in kindness is in my opinion a story which should be shared with as many readers as possible. It has a good balance of love and security with abandonment and dislike, although now that I think of it, this isn't balanced, it is more love and security which is a very good event in this story.

The characters have a nice mixture of humans young and adult and a dog. I think the dog is the best character. I'm very much a dog lover. People are ok, and they have a place in this story although the unfortunate character, Umi Yamada, should have been given 1000++ lashes with a wet noodle. He should have been required to pay restitution for his abuse and neglect in my opinion even though the cause was because of how he was treated for his actions or inaction's at work. Yes, he should have been helped to deal with this life changing issue or issues, yet the dog was treated badly and didn't have a choice or ability to get away from the situation. I did allow my views to creep into this review so that you would understand better my remarks.

There was conflict, resolution, and characters, which made a rounded or well constructed story that thankfully had a happy ending.

I felt compassion for Umi Yamada as well as and possibly more for Kiku. She for me was the innocent victom and he was the abuser who had more options to choose from to help him get through life and resolve his problems.
Rhythm:
The peaceful opening of this story is gently jolted by a trip into the past as Kiku dreams about what happened to her and her first master. This was not a shocking transition and I think it worked well for telling Kiku's story so that many readers could enjoy it and learn about animal and human relationships. I may have been challenged to read the story if it had been a sudden drastic horrible change from the opening paragraph. Most of the story was a peaceful smooth adventure from event to event with points of interesting information which gave the reader insight to Kiku's life and how it retained a happy ending.

I was comfortable with most of this story of course the abuse wasn't sometyhing I enjoyed reading about because of the dog and the humans issues which resulted form these life experiences.

The information and interactions of the characters helped me remain involved with your story and I enjoyed a smooth and easy reading experience.

My thoughts and ideas which may be of interest to you:

This area is where I help show writers anything that in my opinion and from my experience would help them improve what they have written or would give them ideas that they could use to add to or change their story so it would be more interesting to me and readers or be presented better. You did a wonderful job of writing which I can not improve, so will simply thank you for taking the time to write it for me and other people to read and enjoy.
*Thought* CONCLUSION(S) *Thought*

Dogs are wonderful creatures created by God. Children and dogs go together. People and dogs should have happy and fulfilled lives together in peace and with respect and understanding.
My thoughts and Impressions:
Your story in my opinion is a readers best friend. I enjoyed reading it and was very glad to find the happy ending I thought would be awaiting me when I finished reading.

Having the opportunity to read your word art, learn from your style, voice, presentation, and creativity is helpful for me to improve my writing skills. I like your style and enjoy your characters because I can feel a similarity or kinship with how you use your creative knowledge to build art with words and present a picture to the reader.

Reading and reviewing is a pleasure and also an exercise in learning and helping me to have more knowledge about writing. I want to help you know and understand how your writing effects me and my feelings, thoughts, and reactions to the scenes and events you have presented to me.

Finding this story, reading and reviewing for you, and gaining more knowledge from this experience if a precious gift from God.

Thank you for allowing me to spend this time with you and your word art.

Safe travels and many blessings.
