Hi Lisa
It is a lovely poem on war and fellow feelings between soldiers fighting the same war. You did a great job writing about the misery of war from the first person point of view. It is a challenge to step into the shoes of a soldier for that unforgettable experience of saving a brother in arms.
Imagery-
full marks to imagery. It is visual. It tells me that it is a real life situation. Dedication to your father confirms my first thought about it being a genuine one. You also show how cruel and cold a war could be. Death comes menacingly and takes anyone at its will.
Mercy-
Sympathy and mercy in the midst of war are so rare and precious. You brought two clashing aspects together in a nice way. War or no war, it is important we should feel responsible for the neighbor too. That's a great message, Lisa.
Flow-
Lines scroll down as if they pour in a spontaneous stream.
Stanzas with fitting word choices tell the tale of a brave soldier in an arresting manner.
Great poem!
Write on!
