Dear blainecindy

What was my first impressions of the story?
Knowing you through our work together in another forum, my first thoughts were that this was truly the story of your daughter and the hunt for her wedding gown. I was able to envision this as a truly remarkable memory taken down to be handed down years to come. What a special bond that was shared by all parties involved.

What was the feeling about the main character in this story?
Sarah had a vision and knew her mind. She is a strong person with simple tastes. When in experiencing such a special occasion as this, emotions can run high and yet Sarah showed great maturity and respect to those around her. One of her dreams is being fulfilled at this very moment and you can feel the excitement in the air as the reader follows Sarah on her journey.

How do I feel about the pace and flow?
This was a very easy story to read. The tempo moved along as it would through a search, constantly looking for that one elusive piece to the puzzle and yet, each time coming up short, until the very end, when that AH HA moment arrives.

Thoughts on any conflict and / or resolution:
The conflict was in finding the perfect dress. What each woman dreams of as her "perfect dress" for the wedding is personal. No matter what others think, we the bride are the one living out our fairy tale as we plan this momentous event. I think it priceless, the reaction of others at Sarah's choice, and her mother's observation. Sarah sums it up perfectly herself "that it's the bride who makes the wedding gown beautiful, not the wedding gown that makes the bride beautiful."

Thoughts on the ending:
This truly sums up the experience of marrying off your daughter. To open your eyes and no longer see them as the young child, but as the adult they have become is a very emotional time for a parent. At the end of the story, we see this transformation take place. Also felt is the love and adoration the parents feel toward Sarah.

My overall thoughts:
All throughout reading this short story I felt as if I were watching a fairy tale come true. Isn't that part of what weddings are all about? Many girls dream about this day starting at the toddler age. They play this with their dolls, discuss this with their friends, and now, this is the day it is happening. (though I wasn't this typical girl, I HEAR, that is how it goes)

All throughout this story, I felt a sense of pride from the parents. The father, through his patience and demeanor was eager to see that smile on his daughter's face, and he was happy to be part of that. I feel that this part of the story may be downplayed because the story is told from the viewpoint of the mother. I would have loved to see more insight into this aspect of the story.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this little piece and felt like it gave me some added insight into the dynamics of this family. It was like watching one of the chick flicks on the movie screen and I was happily enjoying watching this tear jerking moment take place. Thank you for sharing.
