Oh, My God. what a dinner, how crudely romantic!
Hats off to your satire on "The Crucible" a restaurant that seems to churn out live snakes for dinner. Man's vainglory is at its epitome, for he is ready to die to look mighty and invincible.
Are people changing back to their hedonistic selves of the past?

Drama-
the dramatics you have shown are worth applause. Both, the man and woman seem to enjoy limelight and show. Their focus is on the audience, their love is more for the attraction they hold for the lookers-on rather than for each other. More like a contract marriage. Here for today, and somewhere more savage-like, the next day.

Money-
Rebecca is obviously for money. Looks like that's her intention in getting engaged to this Narcissus.
"Tall, slim, perfectly proportioned, sexy as hell. And that was just him."

Language and style, well-matched.
