This nice mixture of reality and fantasy to make a sci-fi story has great setting. The clearing in the park (how about a nearby wood?) with a splendid dragon with all its minions seems "cool" indeed. too cool for mortal eyes as seen. Summer night, shady grove, and a silver dragon and the flying all the way to "hyperspace" at God knows what speed, makes great stuff for imagination.
Eddy's character seems somewhat different, like that of an eccentric-nevertheless- brilliant scientist. I like his idea of sharing a beautiful sight with Dave. Good that they made twosome for the hyperspace.
