Quill Street [13+] A look back at happy times with my grandfather. Northern England, 1970s. |
Hello there, Newbie! Welcome to WDC. This is a Simply Positive Review. You know, David, I really enjoyed your story. I love nostalgic writings that bring the reader down a wonderful memory lane, through the eyes of the author. You painted such clear images of yourself as a youth, hanging around with your grandpa on a Sunday afternoon, listening to his stories and walking with him to roomy spots of soil to kick around a football. I loved the stories you shared that your grandpa told. Some of them were tongue-in-cheek, others were specific facts that still stir the curiosity. I guess one would question why all shades were down in daylight on one particular street. I guess night shift would be a good answer. I really enjoyed getting lost in this nostalgic place, with a youngster and his granddad. Memories make us relive those pictures in our minds that bring a smile to our faces. The only thing I think could make this better, would be if it didn't end rather abruptly with the footballers. I think mellowing out the thoughts more and ending it with you and grandpa sharing a moment concerning both of you rather than ending with the football games and the ellipses. That's a good thing, when the reader wants more. Well done. Until next time--write on! Regards, Web~Witch My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
