If this is based on reality, I managed to save some from our flood. Carefully dry with a blow drier on low, about 30 seconds per page, then go back and do it again. If you're lucky the pages will not stick and you can save your book.

Now for the poem.

I really enjoyed the poem. it touched my heart, maybe because I lost so much in the hurricane. The repetition came easily and seemed to reiterate the despair and frustration. I like how you mention the family was safe, and how much the book meant to you.

I was puzzled how the bible saved your lives. You don't expand on that, so it left me wondering. I needed that bit of closure.
