"WdC SuperPower Reviewers Group" A Fall Review from River Please remember that you are the best judge of what is right for your story! Whatever I say, whether positive or negative, is just my opinion! You are the only one who can decide what is right for your story. Hi Henny Penny, I found your story, Happy The Cat in your port. I enjoyed reading it and wanted to share some thoughts with you about it. Hooks: A hook is the best way to draw your readers in and make them want to continue reading. What I look for in hooks are the title, the story description, and the first paragraph. The first thing I saw was the title. I love cats, and cat stories , so this was a good hook for me. The story description was good too. Your first paragraph made me smile. Happy reminds me of my feline companion, Sir Trevor. Characters: Your characters stand out and give me a good image of Peggy and her mom, and Happy the cat. My Favorite Quote(s): "I wouldn't give you away ever and you can have the rest of the sausage for breakfast." Overall Impression: I love this story. Having had cats all my life I can identify with the situation. I can picture Happy trying everything he could to get Peggy to give him some sausage, and once she left the room taking matters into his own paws. The scene where Happy helped himself to the sausage was hilarious, and Peggy’s reaction so true to life. I was happy that Peggy had such an understanding mother who instead of punishing her made chocolate pudding for supper. Grammar/Punctuation/Spelling: I prefer to review only for character development and story line. Final Thoughts: Happy The Cat was a good read, and took me back to my own childhood and all the cats I’ve known and loved. It’s always a pleasure to read your stories.
