Hi

This poem goes down well with me because you have depicted an older person who feels like a child at heart, not just young at heart. The sensitive eye of the child in the poet appreciates sights like "zinnias hug the mailbox posts-" or walking "in big-girl shoes." Despite the "crow's feet" reflected in the mirror ( for, a mirror can't lie) this child-like person is "whisper-soft and young as ever"

Besides the depiction of a bewitching theme, the poem is colorful on imagery as well.
The lady is worried because she still dreams "of being late to school" and missing classes. Given a choice, I am sure more than half the population of the world longs to go back to the golden days of childhood or retain the child-like innocence and charm of a lovely child. Count me as one.

The use of understatement in the lines, shows the modesty on the part of the poet
"I understand I have a voice, but am not quick to prove it.
I say it’s my own choice to learn before I talk."
The same device appears in the last but one line where the poet hopes to be "reflective, clear and young as ever." It shows the difference between the description and reality. To me, the poem is already a proof of all these aspects.

There are many angles to this poem which are thoughtful, playful and somewhat remorseful.

It flows well and right into my heart.
