Some things I Like:

I love scifi. I'm a science fiction junkie, so I appreciate the genre. You worked in quite a few classic scifi elements in this piece that worked well in my opinion.

Observations & Suggestions:

The character seems pretty complete, though I found the details of the race itself more interesting.

I do think that this is not information that would be in a personal log. Why is she telling her journal what she looks like? Seems like this would be more of an introductory message to some other planet or species or something. Or maybe a message for a future civilization from a race that is dying... something that is not simply a personal log. Still, I think it is a clever way to go about a character description. It was a bit of an info-dump, but it made a certain amount of sense in context.
