Somewhere I read, child is the father of the man. We can't believe it till we read stories like this one. Young Jeff is just five. Yet, he has the wisdom and compassion of a grown man. His sympathy and love for his mother reach out. His mother needed this moral courage to walk after two crucial spinal surgeries. It is wonderful to read of a family who bravely faced the mother's condition and helped her cross it successfully.
Written from first person point of view, it has a great setting and two other characters besides the narrator, the mother herself.
Dialog is telling enough. Jeff stands out with a charm of his own. He feels sorry he couldn't carry his mom upstairs.
Christmas remains in the memory of this family bound by love and positive attitude.

A cozy Christmas story.
