Your descriptions of the horrible drive were so vivid that I noticed at one point, just like you were gripping the steering wheel of the car, I was gripping the mouse as I was scrolling. I never had to drive in weather conditions like that but I can imagine how much I would panic, and it sounds like you did a very good job keeping as calm as you did and keeping everyone else calm as well. It's never a good sign when the kids go all quiet though, so they must have sensed your anxiety and known that something was wrong.

I liked how you reflected on the experience at the end although from the way I read the story, it seemed that you were a little hard on yourself. If you were surprised by the weather, as these things often happen, you did the best you could and you got everyone home safely, which was the main thing. There are often stories about cars stranded by the side of the road in those kind of conditions; at least that didn't happen to you!

I spotted a couple of minor typos you might want to take a look at if you want to edit this story at some point:

The last I heard their expecting - "they’re."

I wondered. . - there is an extra period at the end.

I enjoyed reading this story because your descriptions, both of the situation and of your thought processes and reflections, were excellent - almost a little too good because I felt like I was experiencing it myself.
