The harmony you were trying to describe here came across very well, despite the obvious upheavals that happened during the course of the story. The characters were well drawn and as well as feeling great sympathy for the main character, I felt an equal amount of dislike for the mother who seemed to find fault with everything her daughter did and couldn't feel any joy for her. It was actually a nice turn when it became a little clearer why she acted that way because it made her quite a well-rounded character who had her own life, her own difficulties to deal with. I liked how you developed this aspect of the story, and it worked well to explain her behaviour towards the end, too. It seemed just like she had put her own life on hold years earlier, she was willing to step in again when she was needed.

The conclusion was excellent after there were a few paragraphs when I thought the main character wouldn't actually get her happy ending. I liked the way you told most of the story in a flashback because although you hinted at that level of tranquillity at the beginning, there were also a few memories that could have indicated her sadness, like her looking at the photographs. The middle part of the story described all the difficulties the main character had to encounter on her way to achieving it, which made the ending all the more powerful.

The tale was beautiful in itself, and it was well told and very descriptive which made it easy for the readers to feel for the characters and get into their story. I liked it. *Smile*
