What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

I think you are right in the sense that there are mutual responsibilities. I joined a group and really worked hard for the group and never got so much as a personal thank you from the leader at the end. They only wanted my gift points and basically my hard work meant nothing. It got very nasty to the point that I was scolded for using my own gift points to reward reviews. When I say hard work I mean 194 long reviews in one month. But that was nothing and they wanted me to hand over all my gift points to do something I thought was kind of dopey and fundamentally wrong. So, I didn't do it and found a group that is more about being positive and encouraging so it works both ways. Some group leaders here treat their group members like their personal servants.

But it is up to the individual to do what she thinks is right.
