Hello! I am reviewing your short story on behalf of the Try Something New contest. Thank you so much for entering! I can always count on you bringing a wonderful piece to the contest. This was a sweet story, and that poor boy who was upset he killed a hummingbird. It's amazing what small events in our lives can cause such great changes. Perhaps he would have become a veterinarian if he had not killed the small animal and perhaps not, there are always questions of 'what if' in life that we will never know the answer to, nor do we need to know the answer to them.
Another part that really struck me was the touching of the photographs. I have a shoe box full of old photographs, a lot of them are from our old house that was demolished to build a new school. It is rather amazing the memories that come flowing back to us as if it was just yesterday.
As for the technical aspect of your story, I didn't really see anything that was hard to read or follow, the grammar was good and your character building is great. Good Job and good luck in the contest!
