Hey, justanotherpoethero . How are you doing? I thought I'd shoot some words about your poem, "The Archer. There were some super strong lines in this poem, but what hit me the most is the message behind it. I think that we do take a lot of risks as writers, and it is difficult. It took me so long to be willing to share any of my writing, 15 years, in fact. I wrote all through my childhood and teen years without ever showing a soul. I guess that's why the last lines hit me so strong:

Because we’re writers,
And we have to believe that if we’re brave enough,
If we’re clever enough to open our stupid mouths,
Somebody out there will listen.

Because isn't that all we hope for as writers, anyway? Someone who will listen and 'get it' for once? I think you did such a great job of explaining fear in this poem too. One of my favorite sayings is, "be scared and do it anyway." Because that's what bravery is. I think a lot of people equate bravery with not being afraid, but that's not the case at all. It's the exact opposite.

My favorite two lines overall were:

Remember that the archer is a symbol of aggression-
Not like a punch in the face, just a shot in the dark

There's something really powerful there. *Heart* I think so many people will be able to relate to this poem. I thank you kindly for sharing with us.
