Shaara's Prompt: Getting a stepparent can be tough on a kid.
There’s a stranger in the house scenario,
plus the fact that any liking for this new person
could be interpreted as disloyalty to the biological parent.
Write about one very new relationship
between a stepfather/mother and stepchild.
Please, NO dark clouds due to impropriety
(stated with old-fashioned terminology,
but you know what I mean.)

I liked the line:
“You have heard about how evil stepmothers can be,” said Kainda. “Aren’t all stepmothers like that?” I wonder if this thought began with the Cinderella story?
