Hello Champ,

my name is Tiggy and I am reviewing your story as a judge for "What a Character! : Official WDC Contest" . Please bear in mind that my comments and suggestions are only my opinion. Other reviewers might see it differently.


The first sentence grabbed my interest, and with the hint of the title, I had a fair idea who the main character was before I continued reading. The next thing that jumped out at me was the descriptions. You painted a very vivid picture with your words and it was easy to imagine the setting and the atmosphere. You certainly made the most of the old ‘show don’t tell’ – it all pretty much jumped off the page. The conversation with the old woman was excellent and again, so clear that I could almost hear it.

The story had an unfinished feel to it; Katherine realised that there is some connection between the man and her dream, but the story ended as soon as she knew there was something mysterious about him. I’m guessing that you didn’t mean to end it so abruptly and that there was more to come. It’s a shame because I liked what you had so far a lot, and I would have loved to find out how their story would have continued. I assume Katherine was the character whose views on faith you were going to explore, considering that Frank didn’t have to believe – he knew.

Technically, the story was sound and I didn’t notice any typos or other errors as I was reading. I hope, now the contests is over, you’ll take some time to finish this tale because I think it would be worth it – you have a great start here!
