"Game of Thrones"   by Gaby ~ Quiet contemplation

PLOT -
James attends a ball, at his sister's bequest, though he's not thrilled being there. Gossip runs rampant, and annoys him as he makes his way through the crowd of people, heading for the stables to take a break.

SETTING -
Great visuals of the ballroom, and the cheap decorations of red hearts and roses. It was easy to see the men dressed in similar fashion, and picture people milling about. Out at the stables things get really interesting, each moment perfectly described. When he went outside for a smoke, that was so clear as the smoke traveled up in the air, the red flaming at the tip in the darkness.

CHARACTERS -
James and the Duke have an obvious attraction, though they hide it well. I loved the dynamic of these two, the sexual tension that hung in the air and the inside joke the Duke made to James.

GRAMMAR/SPELLING/DIALOGUE -
Smooth dialog. You really were in this time period and everything felt normal and flowed well.

THOUGHTS -
I really enjoyed this short story. Your characters were vivid and well rounded, easy to identify with. Loved the sexual undertones while they tried to pretend the entire meeting was innocent, the entire conversation being heard by the groom. I wonder how long this pair could keep it up, especially James who seems harder to restrain his emotions. Loved it. Write on!
