Hello Champ . I'm Charlie and I'm here today reviewing for "a very Wodehouse challenge. How are you doing? Thanks for sharing your writing with us. I hope this review finds you well. *Smile*

Title/General Thoughts/Subject Matter:
Well, that title definitely draws attention, huh? *Laugh* I love that this is where your mind went when thinking of a "gothic" theme. I guess there is something 'Dark Age' about getting older? *Wink*

What Worked: I liked the narrative of this and how the scene slowly unfolded. The first sentence caught my attention because I wanted to know how and why this situation happened. I think the general moral story behind this is sound. We all have tendencies to judge others at times and even your description of the 'youths' showed a certain sense of self-importance in the narrator. It was obvious that they didn't approve of the way the kids were dressed or the way they looked.

The good deed at the end changes the narrator's mind about the kids because it is shown that they are capable of following the good ol' Golden Rule. I liked that the last sentence wrapped back around to the first sentence to create a full picture of the story. The ending definitely made me smile.

Technical Issues/Suggestions: I didn't really notice anything on the technical side that needed to be fixed, but I was slightly confused about the storyline itself. Did the kids call the narrator an "old fart" at all? Because if so, it's kind of justified for that narrator to judge them back. I was confused by that because the ending made it sound like the narrator had just made random false judgments of the kids, but if the narrator was called a nasty name, that isn't really the case.

I feel like the whole theme behind it is to not judge a book by its cover, so it's a bit important, really. Was it justified or unjustified? Were the kids kind of jerks but not that bad? If so, I still think it's justified to make some nasty assumptions about them after they had already started trouble.

Final Thoughts: Overall, I liked the message behind this story and I thought it was an interesting read. I did have a little bit of confusion about the beginning of the story and what actually happened to start the whole thing off. Thanks again for sharing with us!

Best wishes,
