"SIMPLY POSITIVE GROUP
Hello there, Thundersbeard 30DBC JULY HOST
This is a Simply Positive Review!
*Vine2*

*Bat2* I am also reviewing your entry, "They Shoot Zombies Don't They?" for the "The Bard's Hall Contest. Thank you for entering!

*Tackg* I can't seem to resist a good apocalyptic story, and zombies do fall within that category. Also, since I played one of the frozen dead peeps on the team White Walkers, I could sort of identify with this vignette.

*Ax* You created this little slice of life out of the murky woods, and deserted town, and gave the reader a peek into life after the demolishing of a once verdant country area.

*Shovel* The reader is pulled into the scene with the little girl and her grandmother. They are dirt poor, with an emphasis on dirt, and need to remain hidden from those who would hunt them down. I could understand the child's boredom and need to stretch her legs away from being inside the bunker.

*Web2* Loved the description of the only piece of comfort the grandmother could offer her family, the old, dirty blanket that supplied warmth and a feeling of safety.

Observations:

Once upon a time the valley had been verdant. Now its[it's/it is] dusty slopes were barren.

There is a little ambiguity within the story. The mention of a wolf yearning to be a man. Of course the reader thinks of werewolves rather than zombies. So we are left to wonder what exactly is outside the barrier of protection that they reside in, and who are the residents that hide within there at night and hunt during the day.

*Door* However, it does give the imagination a little twist. When I thought of putting an image to the family in my mind, I was reminded a little of an X-Files episode, "Our Home," with the Peacock family. Very strange story, but it couldn't help but jump into my head while reading this.

*Camera* Interesting snapshot of this family's slice of life.

Well done! *BareTree3*

Until next time--write on!

Regards,
WebWitch
