First Impressions: "The Secret of the Heart"  is an intensely metaphorical poem of a person who, through finding themselves imprisoned in a place of mind & spirit, take us to a world where there seemingly is without hope of any kind...



Overall Impact: This poem reminds me, for the most part, of the movie, "The Count of Monte Cristo". Within that movie and this poem, we find that there is no way out of a prison that seemingly both the person in this poem as well as the actor in that movie have found themselves. We discover that there is an innocence within this work, a complete and enclosing feeling of being punished for deeds that both persons did not do...



Errors: No mistakes found in this carefully worded poem. I was impressed by the abilities of this newbie here on WDC!



Summation: "The Secret of the Heart"  is a kind of hell that we have been made privy to, have discovered for ourselves that a fellow human being inhabits that has made them a prisoner both night and day. We struggle mightily to know whether this imprisonment is real...or metaphorical? Then the truth of this writing unveils itself; do not most of us find ourselves knee-deep within a reality that can imprison our minds and hearts and souls every bit as much as a prison of iron bars and stone? Do we need to be told of the nature of this work...or do we already realize its very truth?
