Wow! You have really captured a sad point of view of life, spiraling down to a terrible end. The voice has a logical plaintive tone and the use of the 'I" voice is consistent. The events chosen to show the potential reasons for his "fate" are relevant.

I really felt his aloneness especially in the added line about the mother.

The poem verses are balanced and while there is not a consistent beat, the rhyme scheme is consistent. I liked "laugh" with "gaffes" and the latter is well chosen and vivid for the picture you paint of the speaker.

His thinking at the end is profound. I felt that though regrets, there is an ease as his end is set and he does not have to be in confusion any longer with his doubts and pains.

Thanks for sharing your sombre vision. It is sad that so many deal with these issues.
