Hi Chanon ,I found your writing in the Newsletter. Hopefully this review will find you in good spirit. *Delight*

On Title/Subject
An intriguing title and sub line. I was drawn into this little tale. I thought this was a fiction piece but I learned from your comment at the beginning it was actual non-fiction. Very surprising to read that. The life of a street child is not very common, so it was a good read.

General impressions
I loved reading this charming and somewhat subdued story of Annie in the streets of London, hoping to find and getting in the end her share of food every day for over eight years. In the story she apparently dies, too sad! I was glad to find out the real Annie ie. the writer had come a long way since. A lovely tale on a poignant subject, the lives of street kids in modern day cities. Even in a sophisticated city like London there are those unfortunates, trying to survive. You read about this in South America or Asia, but never in the Western world. It was an eye opener to me.

Favorite Parts
I could not remember my parents. I did remember an aunt and a house where she used to live but that was a very long time ago. I was six years old now and for as long as I could remember, I lived on the streets of London. Many of the children were even younger than I was. I had learned very quickly that some secrets were never shared; if they were I might be hurt or even killed. Friendships were tentative and often short lived. Competition was fierce among the children. The bigger ones often used violence to get a scrap of bread, a fruit or even bits of food from the slop heaps. So it was that I never told anyone about the potato soup and bread. If the other children learned about it they would come and ask the man for soup too and that would spoil it for me.

It is the heart of the story. I loved it that the writer flesh out the lives of the street kids some more. It gave a good insight into their world.

Suggestions
If I would give one it would be to flesh out the ending some more, of the story itself. What happened with Annie, could there be a way for Meg and Frank to find out if she had died or moved elsewhere? Now the ending of the actual story is very abrupt.

Final thoughts
All in all an extremely charming tale. It reminded me of stories by Charles Dickens, but then in the modern ages. Thank you for sharing.

Keep up the good work, enjoy writing!
