First Impressions: "Invalid Item" is a fine, fine short story, a story that reminds me of contest-driven pieces, writing that is under the constraints of contest rules, etc...And for that reason, I think that this writing is even BETTER, when one thinks about how an author, with certain words they must use, write within a certain NUMBER of words they must write, are truly under pressure to write something WELL and ENTERTAINING. That is indeed difficult to accomplish!! Overall Impact: The ending of this work has a poignant message, one that I was surprised to find. The trouble with reviewing ultra-short works such as this, is that one can only write so much within the review itself - without giving away the work entirely. Errors: None found. Summation: A very well-written, ultra-brief and much-to-the-point story that was fun to read, expertly edited, and ultimately (I hope), found to be the winner of the contest it was entered in!!
