First Impressions: "Invalid Item is one of those poems that call, call forlornly at times, and at others grasp us clearly like so...

I know love when I see it. I know love when I hear it. I know love especially when I feel it.

This poem's first impact upon me was like that of a siren, off in a great distance, vaguely calling upon me - even though my profound and near total deafness - to remember someone who once was mine.

And I was hers....

Overall Impact: This poem will haunt you. It already has me. This poem reveals to us love unrequited, love sought after, love that once was so very much there, but slowly....ever so slowly... it was love ultimately lost.

The author seeks it though, in fields, near tall trees standing proudly whereby something might have been planted there, not unlike the powerful seed of love itself.

We are enamored with this quest, this quest of hope. Hope extolls us then, speaks to us from that distance, love that never fails to ....never fail us. Always remind us. Ben Franklin was right: "Pain is the best teacher. It never fails to instruct."

And the impact of this work, so beautifully written, was built upon surroundings, fostered by memories bittersweet, memories painful...memories that hopefully would go away IF ONLY THAT PERSON IN THE POEM SOUGHT AFTER might come back?

Again, we trust therefore in our heart, and our muse, to lead the way...

Errors: No errors seen here this very moment. Beautiful work!

Summation: The author has captured the essence of love in ways many would rather not be reminded of. Loss of a loved one is, out of necessity, a part of Life itself. "We are all born to die", my father used to tell me when I was young and we lost a family member way back when.

Love, above all, is a risk. We cherish it to the point whereby if we ever lose someone to Death, I daresay that we would follow that person to the great beyond if such a thing ever happened.

This poem resounds with longing. It cherishes some things, discards many others. I think the impact that it will have upon others who read this work will be every bit as profound as it was for me...*Heart*

KEEP WRITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Bigsmile*
