This is a delightful poem that I'm sure all dog lovers will relate to. It beautifully expresses how our canine friends can both sense and relieve our darkest, most negative emotions. Your use of couplets gives the poem a good pace and the meaning in your words is very clear. As a dog lover myself I really relate to what amazing stress relievers they can be.
