First Impressions: "Dream"  is an uber-brief poem, a poem that is ultra-direct as well. We as readers know full well that there is nothing more "tantalating" (a phrase I coined just for this poem!) than a romance poem that hints more than of dreams...more than of romance... but like that of say saintly chocolate and the commonplace peanut, together ... why ...

Woo!

So, the reader therefore must come to the reality that what is provided is simply what is offered...



Overall Impact: Sometimes when I review poetry that has a romantic bent, there are always expectations that are almost 1000% more difficult to surmount - and why is this?

The trouble is simply this: romantic poetry has been around for many millenia; in fact, I have on good authority it began in a Garden somewhere and it involved a young couple, and apple and... of all things...a snake.

Talk about metaphors!

But no chocolate, no peanuts.

The truth is, romance poetry has been so extensively trod and journeyed over that few can honestly contribute sparklingly new styles per se.

Of course, I can recant this statement because, after all, brevity isn't so much a style so much as it appears to be more of a form.

Or format for the computer-driven types out there.

Best of all, in this writing, it works.



Errors: No mistakes located in this poem this evening.



Summation: A fine poem, one based not upon expected outcomes so much as in potential outcomes.

One can honestly say that anticipation truly can and will give the amount of lift most every romance poem ever needed.

And so true that is here...
