Hello there, Paul D! This is a Simply Positive Review! I am also reviewing your story as a judge for the
Thanks for entering! This was quite an interesting interpretation of the photo prompt. You had a man with an umbrella, walking in storm, by what appears to be railroad tracks. From that picture, a cool story was brought forth. I liked seeing the surroundings through his eyes. The high rise apartment building offered much to put images into my mind about the scene. There was a bit of wondering about what happened, when the swiftness of comet dust or meteor showers hit and created a magnitude of damage, and how the phenomenon created the condition he now faced. Perhaps he was already a vampire and it was the reason he was spared from death through the destruction from the "storm." It would make sense that the preternatural would survive that, but still needed a fast-waning food source that others like him were hunting for themselves. Eventually there would be no humans left to give them the much needed blood. The reader could feel for this mysterious character as he traveled far and long, hiding from daylight on the way to find a food source. He was facing his inevitable destruction with each passing week. Observation: I knew my life would never the the same, but I was alive, and I wanted to stay that way. Well done! Good luck with the contest, and again, thanks for entering! Regards, Web~Witch My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
