Wow! I half-way gasped, half-way chuckled at your ending here. I absolutely love your descriptions, especially this line: "It's a laugh covered with a sneer..." The personification (if you could call it that) of a sound and giving it more physical, touchable sensory details really draws me as the reader into the experience itself. You really have a way of describing things uniquely, while your voice is very down-to-earth and easy to get comfortable with. Very nicely done!
