Be Careful What You Tell Your Kids [13+] Parenting can have exciting moments. Father like son, may not always turn out as expected. |
** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Hi there! I am the Wordy Jay , and I'm reviewing your work because you're featured in the February NAG Showcase. Overall: Congratulations on writing something that's a little out of your comfort zone! It takes quite a bit of courage to venture into "foreign territory" as a writer, and you're doing a great job challenging yourself. Praise: You've got an interesting story idea here. Your candid manner of narration and the sense of humour you inject into the story makes it a fun read. The casual and conversational tone you use is also very engaging. This line made me chuckle: Drew and his friend Spencer, the names have not been changed, and neither are they innocent, . . . Comments: Personally, I think that the style and narration of this piece makes it more of an essay/article/opinion than a short story. Another thing I noticed is, your title suggests that the focus of this piece is on the parent figure (specifically you, the dad); however, your ending makes it sound like the spotlight is on the kids (Drew's escapades) instead. Perhaps you might want to make some tweaks to resolve this contradiction. Conclusion: An entertaining read. Parenting may not always feel rewarding, but it's certainly always exciting -- at least in your case! Disclaimer: The above review is just my 2 cents' worth! So feel free to do whatever you wish with my opinions/suggestions -- whether it is to adopt them, discard them, or anything in between! Thanks for sharing your work -- Keep Writing! ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
