I Remember Grey [E] An amalgamation of thoughts about one of my most treasured friends. |
I found this poem on the Read a Newbie, page. I could feel the emotions that went into writing this tribute to your beloved, feathered friend. Friend being the key word, because when you love a pet, there is a bond shared between the two that only they understand. It is knowing when the other is feeling not too well, and responds in the only way understood to a human -- songs and notes that lift the spirit. How sad that the last note was actually his parting song -- a farewell to one who loved him dearly. Your poem doesn't appear to have any particular rhyming form, giving it a free verse feel. It is also a prose-type poem, telling a story in a casual way, but still showing the emotional attachment. Observations: I believe the poem could be structured a little tighter or else have more punctuation added where needed, to show emphasis and to let the reader know when to pause. "It was their [there] in his cage that he played his last song." This is a lovely tribute to "Grey." I'm so sorry for your loss of a fine feathered friend. Until next time--write on!
