I'm working on reviewing different genres for "Invalid Item"  and stumbled upon your item, "Invalid Item" . I hope this review finds you well! Thanks for sharing your writing with us.

General Thoughts: I chose to read this short story because I liked the drama of the title and description. "What's up with Mom" and then "Tell me the truth..." I figured i was in for a bit of a dramatic family story and I wasn't let down! It's interesting the way our minds can sometimes jump to conclusions the way Erin's did in this story. I won't lie, I probably would have assumed the same thing, especially while dealing with the grief of losing one parent.

It was nice that everything turned out well between Erin and her mother in the end. Her mother was sympathetic and understanding instead of getting angry at Erin for making false assumptions. I could tell the relationship between the two of them was strong and I think you did a good job of bringing both characters to life in so few words.

Suggestions: There were a couple grammatical issues that could be resolved with a quick edit. Mostly just small things like commas.
Example ▼

"Oh," Erin replied followed by awkward silence. I'd add a comma between replied and followed.

Conclusion: This was an interesting little story about the relationship between mother and daughter following the death of the husband/father. It showed the dangers of jumping to conclusions, but also the way these situations can be easily resolved with proper communication. Nice job, Marci!
