First Impressions: Hello, and thank you for allowing me to read and review your interesting short story entitled: "Invalid Item" . I must say, whenever I find myself reading a short story that involves weapons, Royals, a court filled with courtiers so to speak... I think I know what is coming.

And I am usually right, you know? *Shock*

So, when reading this, I cannot but help my jaded reviewer's heart to acknowledge the fact that violence was bound to happen, but what is nice about this story is that there is a nice, unexpected twist to it as well! *Smile*



Overall Impact: Sometimes when it comes to mysterious people who, like the power hungry wraiths they are, find their way through castles of yore, we discover that they usually ply their trades along the way as they seek (usually) to rob a Royal of their lives...

We expect this.

What we don't expect are the very intelligent person(s) who, through intensive thought and careful plotting, manage to synchronize events - one atop the next - in such a way that people fall like human dominoes ...one death at a time.

It was a nice slant on a well-traveled genre, an angle that brought me appreciation for what this author is capable of....



Errors: No obvious errors found in this story today....



Summation: You know, there is something in this story that I know is missing, and yet... authors usually keep short stories very brief in order to make their impact felt while not involving too much hullabaloo within, say, an entire castle itself. This story's economy of words led me to want more, more thoughts, more plots, more EVERYTHING!

That said, I wish this Newbie well in their future writing endeavors here on Writing.com!
