What brought tHiNg to glide in a space time continuum over to your port?

*Cow* I gave the prompt for this earlier in the week in "The Writer's Cramp - Poetry Week. I was not the judge of the contest the next day, but I wanted to see what you writers would do with my prompt.

What does tHiNG think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I think you have written an insightful and moving story. Aliah knows what giving really entails. The others, not so much. Lynette and Dray both seem like survivors.

What does tHiNG applaud about while reading your item?

*Thumbsup* Most of the money donated for relief does not go to the people devastated. It goes to administration expenses and big salaries so that the head of the United Way and whatever can drive around in a Mercedes when he's not being limo-ed. That was the way it used to be in Northern Virginia, anyway.

I never give to those. I do think the Salvation Army helps more than most, but I give to individuals, not organizations. I don't want to fund any administrators lifestyle. It doesn't mean I don't care. It just means I want accountability. I want to know where it goes and who gets what.

I liked the ending of this a lot and what it says about so-called charitable relief efforts. I think they could all use a closer look-see.

Fine story!

P.S. I am someone who loves to read and review. That is a pretty simple statement and it is true, in the spirit of Ernest Hemingway, who once said, "Write one true thing." *Heart*
