Dragon's been getting a little loose with ducks and didn't have enough geese cackling-in.  What did I enjoy about your poem?  Obviously I enjoyed it as can be seen by the rating. However, what I enjoyed is the form of this poetry. I'm not quite sure if it has a specific name, there was just a familiarity of the style that hit me as one I've noticed before. However, it does have a sweet rhythm and a meter that makes it very lyrical, especially when said out loud. You state it is a combination of both form and free verse -- thus, I like it even better. I am a big fan of well-written free verse. Your internal rhyme hit the mark, as well as the opening lines, used as almost a title to an upcoming verse. Beautifully constructed.  I loved the pace of the poem, and the interesting images it conjured up in my mind. This was colorful fantasy unfolding before my eyes and simmering sweetly in my mind. There isn't a spot I found to stumble over or give me reason to pause, other than to absorb the picture painted as I read through it. The poem incorporates fantasy with hardships of battle and the ugliness it leaves behind. Yet, it is done so with style and a brilliant flair for choosing the right word at the right time.
