What brought tHiNg to glide in a space time continuum over to your port?

*Cow* You sent me a very nice review, so here I am to read and review your article about your experiences reviewing.

What does tHiNG think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I hear you. You express yourself very well, in my opinion.

All I can say about negativity is that I have seen it. People have told me all sorts of things about how I should review.

It was a mistake for me to join some of these reviewing groups. It took a long time for me to do it (someone put me in her group actually) but about 2 years ago, I really plunged in. The manipulation and personality cliques really convinced me that I don't have what it takes. I don't want to be one of the popular crowd. No thanks.

But you know what?

I get reviews like yours and I feel good about things, like there are human beings out there.

I enjoyed reading about your experiences and feelings because I could relate to them.

I don't enjoy reading grammar lectures from those who fancy themselves experts. Sometimes they are right and sometimes it is someone making things up. I have seen that plenty. Because, over many years, I have seen some reviews that made me stop and stare (from people who held themselves in high regard) I know that most of the stuff that gets said here can be taken with a grain of salt -a whole of it if you want to know the truth.

I mean, really, do we think that these people would say these things about our writing if they were looking us in the eye. I don't believe that in most cases.

What does tHiNG applaud about while reading your item?

You have come to know yourself better over the past decade. You know what you like to do. Tell your story and let those chips fall. It's an evolutionary process on this site to find what you like to do and have fun with it. The smartest people (in my opinion and what do I know really) on this site are the ones who love what they do here. They aren't the ones who have to delegate things that they hate to do or even the ones who seem like the popular kids, who have a lot of devotees doing things for them.

Figure out what you love to do here and structure everything so you can do it, enjoy it and forget about the peanut gallery.

That is my best and longest lasting advice to anyone. You will achieve great things if you turn your back on self-proclaimed experts here and elsewhere.

Very eloquent and honest article.

P.S. I am someone who loves to read and review. That is a pretty simple statement and it is true, in the spirit of Ernest Hemingway, who once said, "Write one true thing." *Heart*
