Hi ~Minja~

I am reviewing this on behalf of "WdC SuperPower Reviewers Group. It is part of "Invalid Item.

Please remember these views are purely my own and everyone has different opinions.

First Impressions: I've just spent a while reading through your 2017 poetry folder, trying to decide which one to review. I have to say, I've really enjoyed the read-through. I chose this one because I think it's your most recent, and I've already reviewed a few of your others. Also, I recognised it from when it placed in "Shadows and Light Poetry Contest. As always, I love your presentation. It's immaculate and visually really appealing. The words are poignant and I could relate to them a lot.

Voice/Tone: The voice is one of sadness, but resignation. It sounds like you're just going through he motions of life and not allowing yourself to feel the pain any more. The prison bars surrounding your thoughts prevent you from feeling, but every day they kill off a little more of your memory. That makes me really sad.

Mechanics: Free verse. Love it. You always write free verse like if flows through your blood. You have a unique structure, and it makes your poetry easily recognisable as you. That's something not many people can claim.

My Favourite Part: I adore, "and leave to beguile the whole world / with my cracked smile." That's a wonderful description. The idea of painting on the you that everyone expects to see, then playing the role flawlessly is so sad. But, I think, we all do it to a certain extent. We all want others to think our lives are perfect and we're not falling apart. But, here, the "cracked smile" gives you away. It's the clue to your unhappiness, although, I think most people wouldn't notice it. I also love the last line: "p.s. she would hug you with her bare hands if she was free." The voice here sounds so small and lonely. It's heartbreaking.

This is beautifully written, Minja. It's tugged at my heart, and I'm so glad I had a look through your port today.

Keep writing!
