What brought Hoovsie meandering in a space time continuum over to your port?

*Cow* I clicked on the "Read and Review" option on the left hand side of the page and it took me to your poem.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* What a horrifying thing to have experienced at any age! This poem is about associating sunrise and other things with a parents loss of their grip on reality.

I think we hold on to things in order not to blame those we love as much as we would otherwise.

Blaming Patsy Cline sounds like a good way to cope. She can't really fight back about it at this point.

My mother had dementia at an advanced age. I have still not recovered from the shock of her losing it. I associate it with a few things that are not related also, but mine was closer to sunset than sunrise.

For elderly dementia patients the earlier in the day, the better.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I just thought this was so moving:

"I hate sunrise.
My mother went mad at sunrise.
That's how I remember it."

I think this captures a lot of the fear and frustration without getting too immersed in it. Arms length is best when dealing with a parent in the grip of madness. Regret can become the order of the day otherwise.

Wonderful and moving poetry!
