What brought Hoovsie meandering in a space time continuum over to your port?

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I thought about the courage that it takes to be oneself in a world where acceptance is hard to come by. You expect those you love to come around eventually, but there is no guarantee it will happen. That is a good incorporation of the prompt, Teddy Roosevelt quotation, as applied to the modern world.

It takes a lot of courage to stand up and be oneself when you know there are troubled waters ahead. Alienating one's family is a most painful and wretched outcome to any honest revelation.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I like how when they are faced with really losing their son, the parents come around. Maybe it is not totally coming around with the Dad, but it is baby steps. Time will get them there, or that is what I read into this and the caring involved. All worthwhile things take time and effort.

As indicated, this goes well with the quote and I like how the title can be read to refer to the fact that the fight is just beginning. It takes a lot of courage to be oneself in a family structure that is centered around other ideas from the past.

I also liked how, in the end, the Dad really cared and the Mom stepped up about what was important. Maybe it wasn't done right away, but to fight for something sometimes you have to be in danger of losing it all.

Very inspiring story. There is no quick fix or easy ending - very realistic as a work in progress as we all are.
