Hi there, Maryann, and happy 17th 'birthday' on here!
Other than the last lonely 8 years of my life, I honestly don't remember ever NOT having a dog! Since I was born and for 45 years after I constantly had a 'best friend' at my side, most of which were Great Danes (gentle giants). I watched them grow up from puppies and get old, but like you say, they were still young at heart.
Seeing that gray muzzle on your own 14 year old best friend there brings back a lot of memories, and I thank you for that!
For such a short poem, it still says a thousand words!

PS-the only reason I haven't had a dog for so long is because of my living situation, but as soon as I move back to the West coast (where I belong!) next year, that's going to change immediately! *Bigsmile*
