Greetings once again, Jeff!
I’m kind known for my horror on WdC, so to see this was a treat.
The idea that horror is a demon (Satan) or a genre for writing is one way to look at it, but I think you summed it up perfectly in that last stanza. Horror lives in everybody, whether they want to admit or not*. Granted, some people have more horrific thoughts than others, especially if they write about them (which I do) or they act on them (which I don’t).
Maybe it’s our genetic makeup, or the environment we were raised in, or any other number of things that influence us to think the way we do (that’s a thought: what would Stephen King’s brain look like compared to Dr. Suess’s?).
Sorry, I digress.
Anyway, I thought this was pretty good. I’ve read a few of your other pieces on here and in Poetry Soup, and all of them are great. Hell, I’d even go so far as to say ‘exceptional’!
Well done! The meter and rhyming was perfect, and writing this in the first person was the best way to show the fear factor.

*maybe not highly religious figures, like the Pope, but even that’s a little hard to believe!
