Greetings, Blueflowers!
This isn't bad for a children's short story. It's certainly simple enough, and the idea isn't too hard for kid's minds to get a hold of. Not to mention that encourages children to get involved with arts and crafts.
The spelling was great, but there's a few grammar niggles in this you might to look at (sorry to be so picky, but grammar and spelling are a major pet peeve of mine):
"I bet we'd make lots of money!" Said his Father... (said) (there's a few other speech tags in this you might want to correct)
"I can't wait to do my art(,) Mom!"
