Greetings, Taylor Twelve!
First off, thank you for this little trip back through my own youth and bringing back the memories, both good and bad, of what I had to go through dealing with the fairer sex.
Although I can’t completely agree with your last statement about understanding women (and I’m 54!), this is still a pretty neat piece. I like how you started it out with your sister, Douglas *Laugh*, being your best friend when you were six, and then progressing through the rest of your youth as you gradually learned how to deal with these detestable creatures.
Using the dance was great example, and it’s kind of odd how school dances, no matter how awkward they might be at first, seem to be the uniting tool that bring boys and girls ‘together’, so to speak.
I also like how you ended this. Times have changed a lot in the last 100 years: women are no longer thought of as delicate, fragile flowers that need to be protected. Now they box, play football, and can for the most part do the rough and tumble things guys do. But at the same time, they can still be those delicate, fragile flowers if they want to be.
Comments and suggestions:
‘One(,) four(,) and one sixty.’ (One four, and one sixty)
Loved that line at the dance about the girls moving so fluidly while the boys appear to be tackling someone! *Laugh*
The spelling was great, but there’s also a few other grammar niggles in this. But I think if you went back over this, you could spot them.
