Greetings, Neil!
This is a good little piece about getting input into our writing, as well as letting go of our fears if and when we show our work to other people.
I've reviewed hundreds of Newbies on this site, and a lot of them have mentioned how worried and scared they were to post their work because they didn't know if they could handle criticism. What they don't know is that most of the people who review on this site only hand out constructive criticism in order so they'll get better! Like you said, nobody is going to write something that's so perfect that EVERYBODY will like it!
I'll admit I was a little worried when I posted my first piece, but I'd been writing all my life so I could take the criticism. And after having reviewed 11,854 pieces on here (this is my 11,855th!), I've learned how to help people without hurting their feelings. And I also know how to handle it when people help me!
As writers, we NEED the constructive criticism of other people! I can't think of ANY great author that doesn't have an editor or friends that supply them with their own opinions and tell them how they think their books could be better!
And that's a FACT! *Bigsmile*
