Bon jour, Michael Diaz!
This is kind of a philosophical piece, but I like the way you told it. And if it's something to help you get out of a 'rut', then all the better!
The idea of what light is can be interpreted in a lot of different ways, and you certainly looked at it a LOT differently. Life can be interpreted as light, just as the spark in your hopefully hypothetical friend's eyes can be.
And the idea of wanting to follow him (up to Heaven) with wings was also a different twist on this.
I'll say one thing: this is definitely a 'thinking' piece! I just hope you're not having such a 'melodramatic' day in real life! The light may have left for today, but it WILL come be back tomorrow!
Oh, and by the way, I read your portfolio intro, and your word choice was fine!
A couple of tiny niggles:
"Dont worry about it(",) his final words.' (,")
'the weigh(t) over my chest'

PS-You might want to get your bioblock (biography) set up so we can know a little something about you (hobbies, favorite books/authors, location, etc.), but that's up to you, of course.
