Hi there, Taylor Twelve!
This is really neat nostalgic piece about the area and the times you grew up in and how kids are living today, and you did an excellent job of telling it!
I'm 54, and some of those examples you used (such as making sure you had candles, the camp stove, and lots of blankets on hand during hurricanes) when you were young as opposed to what kids have to deal with today were perfect! Granted, I didn't have to walk 10 miles barefoot in the snow to get to school (like my grandfather claimed {e:think), but it still wasn't any bed of roses like the kids have it today. Now they don't even have to GO to school! They can just turn their laptops on and get their lesson while they lay on their beds! {e:shock2}.
Very well done, Taylor! And that last line about your grandmother's friend and Annie Oakley was great!
