Hello there,

It's Mastiff, and I'll be taking a look at your work today. I'm not a good poet, am still learning about poetry. So take everything I say with a grain of salt, or a winter bag of it, knowing these are just my thoughts. I won't do much as far as technical corrections, unless I see something that really sticks out, because the rules are just so different. Thanks for sharing your writing!

Why I chose it: While I was looking through the I Write 2019 posts for extra reviews, I came upon your entry. I was like, "Hey! I wrote that!" I realized quickly it was a contest prompt, though. *Blush* However, since I had written on the same prompt, I was definitely interested in how you worked it. So, I decided to review it.

How it made me feel: I've never been in military combat, even though I have many friends who have served in war zones. It made me a little sad, because often the last battlefield is the issues combat veterans face at home. But it's also a message of hope, that perhaps the actual battlefield can be the final one, and they get the support they need without a fight.

Points I thought you made: To me, the most important point was that hope for those fighting, in whatever manner, can leave it behind when it's over. I'm fighting my own battles, so I understand.

Anything Technical: I may have used punctuation on every line, but that's more of a personal choice.

Adherence to Contest Rules: No problems here. I know, I wrote on this prompt, too!

Overall Opinion: I very much enjoyed your work. It is very vivid in detail, and tells a story within the poem. Excellent job! *Smile*

Thanks again, and happy writing!
